Monday Madness – Something New

Comments

Labels:

This Monday is no different from any other mad Monday, just with a little twist. I was asked by our church’s children’s ministry director if I would help with watching the 0-5 year olds in a Mom’s Morning Out for a couple of hours each week for the next few months. I am honored that she thought of me for the position. It will be a blast, I just love the little ones. This afternoon I need to do laundry as we had no time to do any this weekend.

A little recap of our weekend:

Saturday my brother in law came over and showed me the tricks to the second coat of drywall compound (mudding). I am glad to say we got quite a bit of it done, I will be working in the later part of the week to finish it, so that this Saturday we can start the third coat. I am also proud of myself, this is my first time of finishing drywall, and I got his stamp of approval. That really  means something, he has a very high standard of workmanship. The bitter part of this bitter-sweat moment is,  Brenda will expect this standard on future projects. I hope is not a fluke!

Saturday night the family and I went to see my niece perform in Bye Bye Birdie at her high school musical. The girls really enjoyed the show, and I was amazed at the amount of talent within the group. It was a great program.

Sunday Brenda fell ill with some sort of stomach bug. The girls and I went to Church but skipped Sunday School since we did not get to bed until 11:30. After Church we had a quick lunch here at home and then both girls went to pool party for the afternoon(as noted in a post below via a photo). They had a lot of fun, but were exhausted this morning. It was a challenge getting them on the bus, a lot of moans and groans. But we did it. Brenda was actually back to normal yesterday evening. Good because someone has to make the money around here. All I seem to do is figure out new ways to spend it. Just kidding!

Thanks for taking time to visit. You might have noticed the changes I made on Sunday to this blog. Thanks for those leaving input, and if you have any suggestions or questions of how I created this multipage blog within blogger drop me a line from the contact page.

I think I like this change.

I now remember why I have not changed in a while, because it takes quite a bit of work to get all of the crap I like on here to work. This post is actually testing a tweet/twit this function. I do like the format I wish the sidebars were a little wider but then that would make the center column a bit narrower. As I said I think I like the change. What do you think. Thanks Toby and Adam for your comments as I was still changing things. I have to step away from the computer…..this has taken too long!

I hate change......
I have been thinking about changing my blog for a while but then could never take the plunge. I really liked the clean look of my blog. Yesterday my blog crapped the bed. The perfect time to change things up. So while I chose a theme, the blog won't be completely up probably for a day, as I test certain features I desire to run on it. Thanks for visiting and have a blessed day!!

They’re off to school again. The girls have been off from school for some in service days. We got good reports for both of them. I love my girls with all my heart, but boy do they like to gab. So in tribute to a Wordless Wednesday, there will be less words flying around here with them at school. Ah… no off to finish drywall. Just have to get more coffee. Did you hear that………….peace and quiet!

Blogging really has not been at the top of my priority list lately. Today I will go with a format I have seen over at Toby’s Blog. His is a great daily read!

We just finished a Bible Study at our G.R.O.W program at Church about relationships. It was very enlightening for me and my approach towards any relationship, including the one I have with my Savior, Jesus Christ. Relationships have always been a struggle for me. I tend to be an introvert when in large crowds and I am continually amazed to watch my wife be an extrovert. She definitely thrives on being social in these types of situations. For me to welcome a new couple at Church during our fellowship time is way outside my comfort zone. I do struggle through it because I know it is comforting to be acknowledged when you are the new couple. Through this Study we learned that we as part of this broken world, tend to be takers and not givers in relationships and other things. i don’t know how many time I have actually walked away from a guest Preacher’s sermon saying “I did not get anything from that”. We should be approaching relationships and other things with the thought of what we can contribute to it and not get out of it. With this approach, God will work through us to do His will.

This study also emphasized praying for others directly, not praying for our lives is easier or more gratifying, but praying for friends, relatives and even strangers in an unselfish manner to open their hearts to God. Again, lifting others up so that His will may be done.

Another thing it concentrated on was taking time to be alone with God. This is a huge challenge for me, I pray every morning a short prayer before I read youversion.com. But this amounts to maybe 10-15 minutes, and some days if I sleep in it gets skipped. I need to carve out some serious time everyday to really spend time alone with God. I find there seems to be a lot of noise in my life. I am not sure why but I always need a radio or tv on in the background. Today I am going to take a step towards God, and sit for 30 minutes, quietly pray and read some scripture, with no background noise. I want to make this my daily devotional time, right after the kids get on the bus.

So those are not all the points this study highlighted, but are the things I personally need to work on. Jason, a leader in our Church really has done a great job with leading this study. If your reading this Jason, Thank You for your dedication!

To top this great study off, Pastor Gary touched base on one of these challenges this past Sunday in his sermon. “Just Walk Across The Room – The Single Greatest Gift” was the title. How simply walking across the room and introducing yourself could change someone else’s life forever.

So with that said, I am going to be working on these things that are a challenge for myself. Is there one of these that are a challenge for you? If so, drop me a comment and I will pray that god will give what ever it is you need in your life to assist with this challenge. Keep me in your prayers as I step towards God with these challenges.

Thanks for visiting and have a Blessed Day!
