Positive Post Tuesday - #Smile #BeTheLight #Love

While we were shopping this past weekend  for bathing/swim suits and graduation dresses, Bethany and I snapped some random shots. I thought about this yesterday while I was running a few errands. Often I see people that just seem absolutely miserable, they lash out at cashiers and anyone that gets in their way. It's actually quite disappointing at times.

I would like to call all that read this to do something. Even the few readers I have here on the blog can make a difference.

While you are out and about, whether at work, or the gym, or even just shopping. Make a point to #Smile and #BeTheLight. You may even see a reflection of this Light that seems lost at times in this fast paced world we are living in. Smiles,, laughter and kindness are absolutely contagious, God intended them to be. It's amazing how a little #Love can change lives.

Have a great week.

A Church Adventure: Reflecting

A Church Adventure.

What do those three words, in that sequence, bring to your mind?

This question has been coming to mind lately as I reflect on this adventure we have been experiencing. If you have not read this Adventure, feel free to click the links at the bottom of this post.

My last post titled "Found it", stated that we found our new church home recently. After that post, I thought about closing this "A Church Adventure" chapter of my blog. After all we weren't going to be visiting anymore church's, we were home...end of chapter, or is it???

I recently have been kind of lazy regarding this blog of mine. Recent posts are mostly quickly shared music videos, pictures of my life happenings, or blasts from the past with frequent throw back Thursday. There is also my Project 365, yes it's supposed to be one photo post per day. Clearly I also struggle with following through...

Reflecting to the past, as I was composing these posts for the Church Adventure, I really enjoyed the creative process, getting my thoughts together and posting them for who ever might endure my bad grammar and miss spellings. I was so amazed at all of the support we received during this adventure, from emails, to comments on posts and Facebook, and casual conversations with friends. We absolutely felt God's love during the ups and downs of this process. Thanks again to everyone that supported us!

I will continue my therapeutic writing here, about our Church Adventure, and what we are experiencing in our new home church. During one of our recent discussions as a family about our church, we all shared something each one of us has witnessed, situations reflecting that God is at work at New Day, or what is now called Dutilh Church Mars Campus!! HE is doing great things, and continues to guide us, as we love Him, love others, and love to serve. It's with considerable clarity that God never intended this Church Adventure to end, so we will continue experiencing it, where we are, thanks to Him!!!

What thoughts come to mind when you hear or read these three words, "A Church Adventure"?

Grace to you and peace from God, during this Christmas Season.

Positive Post Tuesday: Safety Razor

Safety Razor

It's quite simple, Schick, Bic, or Gillette will not get one more dime on my shaved face. The cost of the multi-bladed razors are incredibly inflated. I saw this at Walmart the Van Der Hagen Traditional Safety Razor itself (with 5 blades) was $17.58 and I got 8 replacement blades for...$2.88 (the box said it contained 5, but it came with 8) I thought 5 for $2.88 was a good deal. Winner, winner, chicken dinner. That's $.36 a blade, wow. I notice no difference when shaving, between the multi bladed razors(I was using the Bic 3 razor system) and this single bladed razor. Now I just need to convince the ladies of the household to adopt this wonderful classic razor. Not mine of course, their own...

We will see.
Thanks for checking out this PPT and have a blessed week.

PPT #2: JJ Heller (Acoustic)

I just had to share this as another Positive Post. Yesterday, I posted a music review on JJ Heller’s new album “Loved”. I mentioned in the review, that I would love to get the album in an acoustic version. Well, they released one of the songs, yesterday on YouTube…I also found several more of them on there as well. I should have looked a little harder before my post. Here are the songs I found. If you take a moment to listen to these I feel you will know what I was referring to in my review. I love the harmonies that this husband and wife create…a God given talent at it’s core.

Positive Post Tuesday

If you listen to K-Love radio you know they had been encouraging their listeners to pick one word. They ask this question:
What kind of person you want to be at the end of this year? What's your "One Word" for 2011?
My one word for 2011 is “Positive”. I find it personally hard to be positive in such a broken world. I will be in prayer to be a positive influence for my daughters, my wife and anyone I come in contact with. I will be praying, that I can react positively to any and all situations that I may be presented with in the future. I will be in prayer that I can make a positive impact on the readers of this blog. I appreciate prayers of support, it is far to easy for myself to be negative or as Brenda calls it a Negative Nelly….. This will be a challenge for me. Thanks for visiting and have a blessed week.

PPT – Youth Sunday Church Service

I have not contributed to Brody Harper’s Positive Post Tuesday in a while. So here it goes:
What a wonderful worship service the youth at Valencia Presbyterian Church did this past Sunday. Being Brenda and I sing in the Praise Team every Sunday unless we are sick, camping, or for Brenda, out of town working, it was refreshing being on the opposite side of the pulpit to worship. Pastor Jean did a great job organizing and leading the group and our music director played guitar. Two of our high school Seniors did a magnificent job with there sermons. Oh how very blessed our church is to have these talented and dedicated young people. Here is picture of them practicing before the worship service started:

PPT – Positive Post Tuesday – Reciprocating Saws and Drywall compound.

So to be positive on this Tuesday, I must show gratitude to my reciprocating saw and it’s origin(creator/engineer) and Drywall compound. See yesterday I was in the middle of relocating a bathroom vent through our attic so it is not in the middle of our family room once the renovation is complete. As I laid on my belly to reach the duct of the fan I heard something bounce and fall 10 feet into the wall of my youngest room. I frantically looked around to see what tool fell to the depths of the second floor. I had my screw driver, my nut driver and the hose clamp I laid within reach. I sat and pondered what else was near me that might of fell, of course hoping it was something of no value or of a metal material so that my BIG magnet could grab it. I then grabbed the flashlight from across the room and upon shining the light down the wall I uttered “you have go to be kidding me”…….my cell phone is what fell. After numerous attempts with my magnet I came to the conclusion that I would have to cut a hole in my daughters wall and then patch it. Thus my gratitude for a reciprocating saw and drywall compound. Silly, but positive in a twisted way.  Go see Brody’s and other Positive Posts this Tuesday.

Positive Post Tuesday

This came in an email from a good friend.
One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us My taxi driver slammed on his breaks, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy.  And I mean, he was really friendly. So I asked, 'Why did you just do that?  This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!' This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.' He explained that many people are like garbage trucks.  They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you.  Don't take it personally.  Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on.  Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets. The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.  Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so
'Love the people who treat you right.  Pray for the ones who don't.'
Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!
'What lies behind us
and what lies before us
are tiny matters
compared to what lies within us.'
Ralph Waldo Emerson
This is a quick Positive Post Tuesday, I appreciate emails like this and Dale of course. Thanks Dale!

Positive Post Tuesday

On this Positive Post Tuesday, I have to mention how much I appreciate my wife! She is so understanding. All of this past week me and the girls have been loafing at the pool we belong to. They have swim lessons in the morning and the weather has been perfect so we have been literally staying there until about 4 and heading home to be sure that dinner is ready when she arrives home. Friday we stayed home and I got caught up on laundry and house cleaning. But I know these two weeks of playing Friday catch up during swim lessons still leaves a bit to be desired with organization and overall house neatness through the week. But she really does not seem to mind, she must have faith that once the swim lessons are over I will go back to my summer schedule of Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at the pool  and Tuesdays & Thursdays do cleaning and errands. I know, life is rough……someone has to do it! Like I said, she really is understanding. That is why I love her so!
