A Church Adventure: Week 14
This past week we were home again at VPC, to fulfill our monthly commitments. Once again, there is nothing like our home church, seeing familiar faces, and catching up with friends. Some how after the church at fellowship time, a few of the old timers and myself started to talk about fishing, for walleye, musky, and perch. Their fish stories had my attention and now I can’t wait to hit the water, and do some fishing. In 24 hours and we will hopefully be leaving for camp, and the excitement is building. For the adventure’s week 15, we may take in a “drive in” worship service, we may do some prayers on our boat while we fish, or we may worship at St. mattress. Stay tuned next week for my post/entry regarding A Church Adventure.
Everyone have a safe Memorial Day weekend.

A Church Adventure: Week 13
This post is a week late, because week 13 was a hectic weekend. It fell in between two weeks of traveling for Brenda. With a Birthday celebration right around the corner, a Memorial day camping trip approaching, and all of this rain we can’t seem to avoid, we decided to spend both Saturday and Sunday working around the house, cleaning up the yard, getting both the camper and boat prepared for the weekend, and doing some desperately needed shopping. With everything that needed done we decided not to attend any church. But we did successfully get everything we set out to do, complete. That’s is such a great feeling working together as a family and accomplishing stuff.
What is something you enjoy doing with your family?

Random: Field Trip
Here are some random shots from the field trip to Camp Lutherlyn, I took with Bethany's class yesterday.
Jim was our guide for the afternoon nature hike. He had a ton of patience as I think a few of the boys in our group consumed pure sugar at lunch.
These shots aren’t bad for an old phone, a stupid phone at that. I love my Env Touch.
Everyone have a wonderful weekend!!

A Church Adventure: Week 12
I should have posted this last week, the emotions I felt at this worship service would have flowed better in my writing. Two Sundays ago, on May 8th, we visited a non denominational Church, in a small town north of where we reside. We were pleasantly surprised by how full the sanctuary was, and then even more surprised by the music presented by Light of the City from Pine Valley Camp. Here is a paragraph from their website:
Pine Valley Camp is a place where urban and at-risk children can experience real life change. Our dedicated staff is committed to loving these children through their pain. In our safe and family-like atmosphere of camp, we have the privilege of witnessing God transform the heart of a child.Their music and message sent chills down my back, gave me goose bumps on my arms and made tears flow from my face. It was what I call a “God Movement”. I love that feeling of His presence. He continues to move me in a direction, I’m not sure where that direction will lead me in the end, but He does and that gives me a sense of peace. It’s His plan. After this service I do believe that God's direction involves music in some shape or form, I connect with it. I miss participating in leading worship by singing in the Praise team, but I know that I needed this break with my family, worshipping with them has been so refreshing. Time for reflection is what I need/needed. I won't be surprised if Brenda and I return to the Praise team eventually, we really do enjoy singing together.
Ultimately I can feel God's hands moving me to something more, maybe elsewhere in the community, to Praise Him and all he has done. I will continue to open my heart and mind to His plan.
How have you felt God’s presence lately??

Randomly Thankful
Yesterday the girls helped me clean the second and third floor of our house so that we could go have a picnic and do some grocery shopping together. The cleaning was a breeze, they each dusted and vacuumed their rooms, and while I cleaned the bathroom and then vacuumed the stairs, they continued to dust, straighten the attic, and once the vacuum was upstairs they vacuumed the attic. With there help we were done in plenty of time for me to get a shower and make our lunches for the picnic at North Park. Here are a couple of shots at the park:
I can’t believe how big the girls are getting.
I love this shot.
Good times with my girls.
I am so thankful for them and the time I get to spend with them. The last eight years have been the best ones of my life. I have the best job in the world, homemaker to three wonderful ladies. I would have it no other way.
I love the three of you dearly!

Music Review: Robert Pierre
Yesterday, I got a chance to download an Ep by Christian Artist Robert Pierre and review four songs here on my blog. You too, can go download these great songs here:
http://noisetrade.com/robertpierre
Noisetrade.com is pretty easy to use. You do have to submit and email address and then pimp what you are listening to on twitter or facebook, but then you receive new, free music.
There is more, Robert will be releasing an album soon. I will receive the cd to review it in full, and one to give away. So stayed tuned…
Here is a little information about the artist, Robert Pierre is an 18-year old high school senior from the Orlando, Florida area. With his high school graduation just around the corner (May 20), Robert has just finished recording vocals for his new CD and is currently in rehearsal for his performance during a few summer festivals.
Songs: (click the links for the lyrics)
1. JESUS
2. YOU HOLD ME NOW
3. BREAKING MY HEART
4. IDENTITY
Review:
All four of these songs are good in my opinion. They are up beat and great messages. Jesus and Breaking My Heart are my favorites, but I would suggest all to friends and family.
Go to Robert’s Facebook page and Join/Like it and remember I will have a giveaway as soon as I receive the cd.
Thanks for visiting my blog and have great weekend.

A Church Adventure: Week 11
This week the girls had another sleepover birthday party, so Brenda and I visited a local Presbyterian church, we decided to attend another early service and enjoyed it. We actually recognized some familiar faces in the congregation. The message really did not captivate either of us, but you will have this at times. I know my mind was wandering, I had what felt like the beginning of migraine going on, that made it hard to focus. The music was more contemporary, which is cool, but Brenda and I both agreed that we really do like a blended service, one that has a little bit of the old music with the new music as well, a balance that is hard to achieve. I feel that VPC used to balance it’s blended service well, but a lot has changed in the last few years. We pray that our new pastor, once the search committee finds him/her, will be able to achieve that balance that we miss. The migraine I thought I was getting never did fully develop, PTL.

Celebrating a Birthday
On this past Tuesday, we celebrated a Birthday and reflected on one year of time. Last year on that day we said goodbye to Romy, a great dog and member of our family.
Last fall we rescued and welcomed Georgie another great dog as a member of our family.
When Georgie arrived, we did not know his age or his birthdate. So we figured celebrating it on the day that Romy passed would be a perfect way of remembering Romy and celebrating Georgie. Here is a picture of Georgie eating his carrot cake muffins with vanilla yogurt on top.
He loved them. I’m not sure how I was talked into making them for him, but I did.
Here is the link for the recipe of dog friendly cake I found:
http://www.dog-treat-recipe-exchange.com/dog-birthday-cake-recipes
Rescuing an animal can be challenging, you don’t know their whole story. But Georgie is the second dog we have rescued, and it has been a successful adoption. Here are a few things we did know when we met him, he was a very friendly dog, the owner we acquired him from had rescued him a few years prior to us, from a life of being tied up in a garage for several years. They thought he was full blooded Bishon Frise, our vet thinks he has to have some poodle in him. It truly does not matter to us, we enjoy his company no matter what kind of mutt he is…
Here are few things we have learned about him since we have had him. He is a wonderfully patient dog, he allows the girls to do just about anything to him, especially if it involves food or affection. He appreciates any kind of attention that involves touch. He is not very vocal, we had him three weeks before we heard his first bark. Now he will only bark if he his playing or sees some one outside that he is not familiar with. He does not lick humans(that just sounds funny, but it is true) He loves to interact with other dogs. We have a neighborhood boxer, that roams around and they will play on occasion. It’s fun to watch with their size difference.
All in all, we are so happy he is part of our family and hope he enjoys camping as much as Romy did.
Thanks for visiting the blog, and have a Happy and Blessed Mother’s Day Weekend!

A Church Adventure: Week 10
Last Sunday for Easter, we ventured home to VPC.
It was great to see familiar faces again, the flowers in the sanctuary looked amazing as well. It just feels good to call Valencia Presbyterian home.
I think we all did not get enough sleep last weekend. It was a challenge for everyone to get ready. That happens once in a while, but we made it and I think I actually let out a sigh of relief when we made it to a pew.
