A Church Adventure (with prayer request): “I love the horn!”

“I love the horn”, were my exact words as the praise band started. We visited a local medium sized church, that we also worshipped with during our original Church Adventure. We attended the contemporary service, an earlier 8:45 start time, was refreshing and seemed very organized. The music was good, I doubt it is any secret that music plays a huge part for us in our worship experience. The praise band was comprised of a drummer, a bass guitar, an electric guitar, two keyboardists, one flugelhorn, one saxophone and one clarinet, A lead singer, and backup singer. One man switched between the saxophone and clarinet, while one of the keyboardist shared the melody with the lead singer and ran harmonies. The addition of the horn and wind instruments, changes the dynamics and layers of the sound, that Brenda and I thoroughly enjoyed.
This time around the adventure is more of a challenge, as we try to find where our puzzle piece may fit. Of course that puts a different spin on things, as it may not be just a simple “one time” visit. I can tell that we are looking at things quite differently this time around. It is not easy, but as a family we are making it an adventure, with lots of prayer and discussion we will continue to check out different local churches. God has a plan for us, we know that, we embrace that. He is good, all of the time.
Could you please pray for my cousin Todd, he has been fighting Cancer for some ten years, and has had a real tough time of it lately. They recently found another tumor and he went to a specialist/surgeon in Boston, but they could not remove it as it was too aggressive. During his recovery from this most recent surgery, he has been having difficulties, they may be trying another round of radiation…Pray for a miracle, pray for Todd and his family, pray for his medical team as they move forward.
I don’t know and often don’t understand God’s plan, but I know it is Good!!
Thank you friends.
Have a Blessed day!

Prayer Request

I missed an opportunity yesterday to post. So here it goes:

  • Pray for Bakerstown’s Mission Team traveling to Honduras on Thursday. A family friend, Cathy and our retired, Pastor Gary will be going. Please pray for safe travels and God’s work to be done during this trip. The mission travels to Honduras and provides medical care and other support to the poor and needy.
  • Please pray for our family’s health. We have had a string of illness from the common cold, conjunctivitis, the stomach bug, to overall having some of those winter blues. If you follow me on twitter or on Facebook you know that Bridget is home with the stomach thing. Poor little girls was up most of the night throwing up like her sister, Bethany was last Thursday night. Although it is nice to see the sun shining through our windows I would like the temps to be spring like as well. I can’t wait to do some camping. I guess I got a little bit of cabin fever.
  • Pray for those that have lost loved ones. My brother-in-law’s girlfriend has lost her father to cancer Monday evening. Pray for peace during this difficult time for Holly and her family. Also,  an acquaintance of mine via Twitter has lost his Grandma this week. Pray for Ben Davis and his family as they mourn this loss and will be traveling.
  • Thanks for all the prayers.
    Peace and Grace,
    Bryan

Prayer Request…

Yesterday we had a get together at a local establishment. It was to visit with a cousin-in-law(CIL) that was here for a short visit from Italy. Another CIL approached me and another CIL and mentioned that he has been praying for our kids. That they would have friends, teachers, and other influences that would be positive and encouraging, in this broken world we live in. That touched my heart tremendously. Here we go:

  • Inspired by Bryan, Thanks Bro. Pray for the children in your life, in your brother’s life, in your sister’s life, in your cousin’s life, in your friend’s life, in your neighbor’s life, in a stranger’s life. You get the point. Every child on this earth needs our prayer.
  • Pray for our Church. Valencia Presbyterian is going through some changes again. We are blessed to have an interim pastor and a great team searching for our permanent Pastor. The leaders and the congregation of our church need our prayers during this time of transition.
  • Pray for Pastor Gary and Bev Weston. He retired as pastor of our church last summer and we miss him and the great sense of peace he brought to our church. Pray for peace and fulfillment during this time of retirement as he spends more time with his family.
  • Continue to pray for Joanne Heim, see *update* below.

Update from last week.

  • Joanne Heim has had some miraculous positive progress this week. Go here Joanne’s Blog to see the details. Praise The Lord.
  • Our friend’s that lost their step father are getting back to a routine but continue to pray for their mom as she is adjusting to life with out her husband.

I appreciate all that visit and participate.

Peace and Grace,

Me

Prayer Request

Please pray for the Owens family. I only know of this family from their blog about their son and from reading it, I was linked to Adam’s  and Karen’s blog that I read daily. Adam and I correspond occasionally on each other's blog and twitter. Adam and Karen’s son Gavin, has Mitochondrial Disease. I encourage you to go read their blogs. They are wonderful family members of God’s Kingdom and they need our prayers. Pray for Adam, Karen, Madison and Gavin Owens.
